Re: Oakworks Aero-Cel Face Rest

Yep... just the cover. It's making little black flakes on my arm rest underneath it, every time I cover it with a face cradle cover. :( I found a few that I can use, but I'm not sold. Some people say the pleather stinks, etc. And, then I ran across this and thought... well... it looks a little weir...

Austin, TX - Event massage

Hello everyone! I am looking for a massage therapist in the NW Austin area to go with me to a few massage events each month. It would be 2-4 times/month and about 2-3 hours hands on. Daytime hours, no weekends. This is a temporary gig, but will look great on a resume! You must be reliable, have prof...

Well, I am now at 500. Here is what the ISP said: "It looks like someone forged your domain in a spam run that was sent out." I asked them if I could stop it and find out where it came from, though, I have a pretty good idea. Grrr... Edit: They added a forwarder to my account so all emails sent to t...

Fired client seeking revenge?

Weird. So a few months ago I asked how to tactfully fire a client. Luckily, I never had to use the info. When the wife did a last minute cancellation and asked to rebook, I simply never returned the call. However, this week they call wanting to come in. I told them I was no longer accepting appointm...

RSD/CRPS and massage?

Hello all, I received a call from someone today who has CRPS. I have never heard of it, and have done a little research since getting her message about an hour ago.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Hello niemand, I am in Austin. I have never worked for anyone else as a massage therapist, so I don't know what spa's/chiro's pay, but I'd say the going rate for an MT in private practice is $30-40 for 1/2 hour, $60-70 for an hour, and $85-95 for ninety minutes. Also, be sure to get in touch with th...

my understanding is that we will no longer be able to use oils that have any purpose other than lubrication. Biofreeze. Sombra. Zheng Gu Shui, White Flower oil, arnica, capsaicin, aromatherapy blends, etc as these things seem like they would all now be considered "drugs". Will hot stones now be cons...

FDA Declares Your Hands "Medical Devices"

Okay, so not really. But there is a new "guideline" in place at the FDA website regarding CAM: http://www.fda.gov/OHRMS/DOCKETS/98fr/0 ... ld0001.pdf

Any thoughts?

thanks for the tips everyone. after visiting various schedulers and BWO sites, I decided to go with appointment-plus. It doesn't look quite the way I want it to, but after playing around with it all week I figured it out and made it do the things I wanted it to. Plus, I get to save $3/month. ;)

I immediately started renting space when I finished school. The first year was terribly hard, another MT and I were splitting a $2000/month lease. We barely made rent on time, nevermind the other expenses outside of work. The second year was a little less difficult. By year 3 I was able to move into...

I agree with all comments. I would add that when I used to do outcalls, as soon as I got to the home, I would call my husband (or SOMEone) in front of the client, tell them I just arrived, and when i would be finished, and when to expect me. I don't do outcalls for anyone other than established cli...

i looked at Hourtown and appointmentquest and another one (mindbodyonline or something). I like them less than appointment-plus. Plus, I feel a little more reassured when I am paying for something, rather than getting it free. After going through all of the different steps on appointment-plus, I mus...

Client complaining of pain after massage/gentle stretching

On Sunday, I saw a regular client who always wants deep massage combined with stretching. I didn't do anything any different. However, when I did the following stretch he immediately complained of low back pain and we stopped the stretch: http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/images/golf_stretching_l...

Well, I have a couple who consistently show up late, cancel late or try to split one scheduled session between the two of them. They are constantly giving me new things to add to my "policies". I have another person who I just don't care for. For whatever reason we don't mesh (on my end anyway). So ...
