Re: Lap Band and abdominal work?

Hmm. Once cleared for abdominal work, I'd likely work illiacus and psoas attachments on the pelvis for the first session, then see how the client adjusts to work in the area. Maybe some muscle testing in threes just to get the muscles to fire individually. Sometimes that does the trick for transvers...

Dear Flaky Client of the Day, I'm so sorry you forgot your appointment with me, despite talking to a live person for confirmation yesterday. We will be charging you for the time. So thanks. I got to walk on the beach for half an hour, come back and log out. Even though you get charged a full rate, I...

Re: Table Reupholstery

What about contacting boat/auto upholstery companies? I'd think they'd use similar materials. Now my odd question. A stool has shed every last fleck of the vinyl that once covered it, but the rest is still in good to very good condition. The employer was throwing it out, and I needed a stool at home...

Or, more ICs in spas, a situation I'm already doing at one location.

I'd love to see your sources and more info.

Two points. One, Harbin will be rebuilding, but is fighting with CAMTC for credentials, as the Valley Fire burned the school to the ground, therefore, no site visit. Two, look at your insurance carefully. ABMP does NOT cover aquatic. A friend found this out at the worst time. Watsu is a fabulous mod...

Re: Questionaire for Therapists and Clients!

Pear2apple, if you hired on at A Particular Purple Corporate Clinic (I did), you will watch a video on how to drape. Do that. Their definition of diaper drape is different from what I was taught in school. I've figured out a less invasive way to do a similar pin of the sheet. At no time, is a PPCC (...

Re: Unwinding - What are your experiences?

I've been under Ego Magician's hands for cervical unwinding. It's good stuff. My instructors for CST are Milne trained, so it was familiar. I'm currently learning neuromuscular reprogramming, and we have a student who has been through some intense recent trauma. She unwinds in a way that looks like,...

Re: The next wave of anti-discrimination...

Gender preference is stated by the client, and based on modesty and safety related assumptions. No litigation will tell clients they must accept service from a therapist. They'll walk out and go elsewhere. The only way to specify gender in a client by a therapist is to do prenatal and only prenatal....

After a reread, and I want those two evenings of my life back, I've concluded that the book is damaging to therapists, especially male therapists.

Re: help! i need more ethics, discipline, &hlp w words

I am concerned that you are following a clinic client on social media, when you admit you have a "little crush." That is you overstepping a boundary. Talking to a fellow therapist about it also strikes me oddly. But I can't say why, fully. So now what? Strictly, I'd say refer him out to a different ...

Thank you Josh. I was hoping to hear your point. I am obligated not to discriminate, my corporate policy. Yep, that corporation. I'm obligated to be professional. (Therefore, I finished the service, and he praised my work to the front desk staff.) And Pueppi, I feel that unless the client makes an a...

And since it bumped... My unofficial mentor once bemoaned the fact that you will never get to experience your own touch. I took that to heart. I get massage that is different from mine, simply because it isn't me, and I have to stop expecting that. I go outside of what I see as my competitive zone, ...

Re: Are you voicemails really that valuable?!?!?

And this is why I have a google voice for the MT business. They ring through like real calls, but the VM is on the cloud. If I were hiring, I'd question the availability of someone who cannot get VM, as well as their organization skills/ detail orientation. Especially if there isn't an email on that...

Re: How do I become more confident in my massage?

I would get "all over the place" as criticism, with no constructive behind it. More than a thousand massages later (hey, I'm part time), I can tell you I hear comments like "you feel very connected and sure" or "you have a comforting touch." And I have my clientele, not just clients. And my school d...

Add me to the extra oil crew. I take note of stubble. I'd rather work on hair long enough to flex. Stubble irritates my hands pretty consistently. Haven't found the magic oil amount! But yes, please be clean. But save your cologne. (I came close to sneezing on a client. That would have been embarras...

On dizzy, I do get in a trance with bodywork...and giving it sometimes. It all about slow movements. Asked to never work on a particular client

I want to start with saying the employer (this isn't the spa where I am an IC, but a clinic where I'm an employee) backed me up 100 percent. So the particular interaction is handled, but I'm curious how others look at the issue. A few weeks ago, I refused to work on a client if he returned. He was p...

Now I'm curious about your ad.

One of my spa clients does the same thing- read an ad; copy what applies ;don't change a thing, including typos; run as theirs.

The only way to resolve this is to have a post on how to write an effective CL massage employment ad.

I've recently gone through hiring at a Massage Envy. I've been told, but no paperwork yet, $16 when working, $8 when not. During my practical, I was asked about my more "out there" modalities. Bumping again for two reasons. First to ask how the pricing and time has gone. Secondly, to JW, when someone books a hair/esthetician/nail appointment, there is an expected amount of time spent. At least in the booking software at my client spa. (Hey, I make people feel good, not look good.) So, a m...
