Re: Is it really harder for male massage therapists to succe

Back in the day when I had a pronounced female therapist preference, I would usually answer a question like that "no preference", smug in the knowledge that only about 15 percent of massage therapists where male. Have to admit if someone says "no preference" when ringing me, they would generally be...

Re: What should I do?

Hi, As others have said that it is probably just a mismatch and there is no reason to radically change your style on the basis of one session that wasn't a success in your mind. Studying lomi-lomi to learn more flowing strokes/style is probably not appropriate if it is not you. However, it is always...

Re: Throw Some Names and Slogans at me

Have you considered using Fiverr to get someone to design a good logo - I've done it for a few of my sites. Some of them will come up with 2 or 3 designs based on your spec and even if you don't use them at least it's relatively inexpensive graphic design. eg I've used http://fiverr.com/actualreview...

Re: Throw Some Names and Slogans at me

Hi Michelle, I know it's a personal view but I don't think a factor in choosing a massage business name should be the re-sale value of the name (unless that is your specific objective in establishing a massage business). Not many sole-trader massage businesses would be sold. You have to choose the n...

Re: Throw Some Names and Slogans at me

Hi, Without wishing to state the obvious but probably the most effective business names refer to the type of massage you doing and where you are doing it (& sorry but don't think Outback massage cuts for most of us that live in the major cities of Australia :D ) (Michelle's) Sports, pregnancy and re...

The article was not written by Jason but by Paul Ingraham. Re: Is it really harder for male massage therapists to succe

Hi Levi, Personally I don't believe that in Australia there would be a significant difference regarding 2002 and now so I would question whether being dated is an issue or not. Whether there is a difference between Australia and other western markets is debatable, I don't know. The article you link ...

Re: Is it really harder for male massage therapists to succe

Thank you for your thoughts. Not sure I understand your comment A 2002 survey is not very convincing of anything The findings of that survey were clear that established male therapists see more clients per week and earn more than female therapists on average (albeit for Australia) . Are you saying t...

Is it really harder for male massage therapists to succeed?

Have recently written an article countering the perception that the massage industry is geared against male therapists.

Re: client testimonials

Maybe, that doesn't mean it is not nonsensical though.

"By far, the best massage I have received" makes sense
"By far, one of the best massages I have ever had" doesnt.

For responding to a four line post, you've managed to intrepret an awful large amount of information, Jason, and to be honest I wouldn't disagree with one word you have written. Thank you for your post.

Just to clarify my "mocking" comment - had absolutely no issue with the reason for the originial post and/or the content of the OP but to me some of the responses that followed were a little gratuitous in nature.

Re: Wanted to share a review I got -

Agree entirely with Kathryn and have to admit that I was a little surprised about the comments. Thought the LOLs, smileys and comment about putting foot in contact were disrespectful of the client. Yes it is a trade-off between too much talk vs explaining what is happening and it is a judgement that...

Cancellations from first time clients

Hi, Occasionally will get someone booking for an appointment and then cancelling citing work reasons, other commitments etc. Often they may book with a week or so's notice and then cancel day before or occasionally on the day. I don't tend to charge cancellation fees and feel that act strictly profe...

Mind it can just as well work the other way, although I know this is saying the obvious.

When I'm quiet and not working as much as I would like then it impacts on my general psyche.

Re: Cert IV massage or straight into Ka Huna massage?

Hi, Might just put a different slant on things. If Kahuna is what you want to do then I would probably suggest just go ahead and do it. If you are just doing the Cert IV for the sake of being able to provide remedial massage services/health fund rebates then your heart won't be in it. (only exceptio...

Symmetrical or not?

Obviously if you are performing a remedial massage for a specific issue then there will likely be a difference between how much you work the left and right sides of the body. However, if you are giving a massage for just general therapy do you mirror the work on left and right hand sides of the body...
