Re: What I think I'm going to do

I wouldn’t go into all the detail about WHY you want to keep your private practice, or any details about it. It is already YOUR practice, which you have built separately and independently from her. If she does not wish her MT to have a private practice, she should look for someone who does not have ...

Re: Has anyone ever seen a massage chair like this one?

That's cool, Akasha! Dh said he thinks it's like the "old original" that one of our instructors (used to?) have, and he sat on it and found it most UN-comfortable, so he was not interested at all in buying it.

Re: Has anyone ever seen a massage chair like this one?

<grin> well, that's a good excuse to come on up here and visit me, LOL! I am intrigued with the design of this chair. I think I'll show hubby, just for kicks. We'd *like* another (meaning, a second) chair, but I'm not sure that would fit our current need/situation, unique as it is. I googled Gonstea...

Re: A.I.S.-Aaron Mattes

Just seeing this thread since C-Bear bumped it. What I'm wondering is how or even IF AIS falls under our scope of practice as massage therapists. I believe, Jason, that you are also a personal trainer? Is this something that "just" an MT could offer? It sounds very intriguing, and I'd like to look i...

Re: Massage Uniforms

Minxz, we use pretty much pure jojoba (unless Dh adds something therapeutic to that), and we haven't had a problem with it washing out of our scrubs at all. I wash them twice a week (ok, we have enough to last almost a week, no re-wearing, at least not of tops!) on cold with medium heat to dry, sinc...

"Following up"?

What does "following up" mean to you? T mentioned that he wondered if we "weren't doing enough follow-up" this morning, and I think my idea of follow-up and his might be different. Mine is certainly morphing these days, too. It made me think of returning calls as swiftly as possible when they leave ...

Re: Massage Uniforms

I used to think scrubs were stuffy and uncomfortable. That was before I discovered the Flexibles line from Cherokee. A lot of them don't even look like scrubs. I don't find them to be water proof at all. For the most part though, they do seem to be stain proof. I love that the tops I have from Cher...

Re: "Other" Chairs / Bargain Chairs

While on this topic, we have an EarthLite TravelPro chair. He loves it; I ... don't. I have a VERY hard time adjusting it-- almost every place to adjust it, you have to squeeze in those little tabs, and my fingers just aren't that strong. I feel like a clumsy dork trying to set it up and adjust it. ...

Re: "Other" Chairs / Bargain Chairs

Not really sure of the actual "brand", but that chair looks a LOT like the one Dh bought after a big all-day gig where the company provided the chairs and sold them afterwards to anyone who wanted to buy them. He paid $50 for it. It was a decent chair, for a few months. It is decidedly *broken*, tho...

Re: What do you refer to your business as?

lol Carol, sometimes it can seem that way! I thought I'd replied to this thread a long time ago. Guess not. How we refer to our place depends on the situation. It is in turn "facility, "establishment" or "practice", when we need to address it more formally; and in casual conversation, it's "the offi...

Re: Massage Uniforms

We wear scrubs. We have our logo on them (I left out *one* top from getting "logo-ized" in case I was ever in a situation where I would need to "not display my brand"). We are also having name tags made with our logo on them, which will "make up" for when I wear that one top. Dh also has a top witho...

Re: Chiropractor had secretary perform chair massage

Well, I don't know about the laws in Louisiana, but here in Texas, it *is* legal for someone to give massages who is not licensed when working "under the supervision of a chiropractor". I would probably also be miffed about that scenario, but I couldn't "advise" you on how to handle it. I think it n...

Re: Soliciting faux pas or over-reaction?

From the viewpoint of someone who does take the opportunities to market business when I see them, I would not have done so knowing you were right there. But I feel sure I would have approached you beforehand and asked if you had marketed there and were seeing reg clients from the class. If so, I wo...

Re: I am such an idiot!

Ah I checked the reports and it's already had a fairly good open rate. I'm not one to bombard our people with emails. I think it's impolite. I know *I* don't open all the newsletters I get, and if a company starts to send too many I'll just unsubscribe. I have the ability to see who opens each campa...

I am such an idiot!

Dh is holding a class on Saturday. I was wanting to get a reminder email out to hopefully prompt people to register for it, and in my haste, I neglected to change the subject line from our normal, ordinary newsletter, which I just sent out LAST WEEK. So, yeah, I don't expect too many opens this time...
