Hot towel Cabinets

Post by Talenyn » Wed Jul 06, 2011 11:01 am

Just wondering, is it safe to leave wet towels in the cabinet overnight? or for several days without the cabinet being turned on?

There is a UV light, but who knows when the bulb was last changed, and that wouldn't sterilize the interior of the towel would it? I know to be effective the UV bulbs should be changed on a yearly basis (at least that's how it is for my pond system)

I'm in South Florida and with the mold/mildew problem around here, it just doesn't seem to be a good idea to me. I make sure mine is empty, but some of my co-workers think it is fine to leave the towels in there. Towels for body treatments are one thing (still yucky, but for feet, back, etc) but for the face? Just doesn't seem right to me.

Input? This is all new to me.

Thanks!

No - take out all towels at the end of the day and put them in the laundry.

Leave the cabi door open if possible to dry out. I have one cabi with a spring door - I roll up a dry towel and wedge it in to keep door open. Check the drip pan underneath (if there is one) and empty it.

Don't rely on the UV light to "sterilize" anything.
Sanitize or sterilize tools and surfaces using the appropriate cleaners.

Oh - and remind me where you are located so that I NEVER go there and have them use those icky towels on me.

Thanks for the info. I knew it just didn't seem right. Fortunately most of the employees are with me on this, there is just the one. We have taken to removing her towels after she leaves. :-/ wanted opinions before I take further action.
