Nurturing The Mother - Claire Marie Miller Seminars

Post by GlassButrFly » Mon Mar 25, 2013 7:42 am

Would anyone be interested in taking Claire Marie Miller's "Nurturing the Mother" and "Nurturing the Mother Fertility Massage Specialist" Certification classes if she came to Houston, TX?
All of her classes seem to be in northern states, so I contacted her to ask if she'd ever be coming to TX. She said she needed someone to help bring her here. First step is getting some interest for participants. Check out her classes here: http://www.clairemariemiller.com

I have no idea what's involved in helping to bring a CEU class to a new area, so if anyone has done that before and has any advice that would be great as well. :)

I'm not interested, but, I'd suggest contacting Texas School of Massage, or one of the other massage schools in Houston, to see if they can help you out.

If none of the schools in Houston are willing... then contact The Lauterstein-Conway School in Austin, they are extremely pro-active in bringing quality CEU's into their facility, and the facility is a great venue as well. Simple, clean, and nice large rooms for course work and workshops. I recently took a 6 day workshop there and it was a very good experience.

It is a straight shot from Houston to Austin on Hwy. 290, in about 3+ hours.

You can stay in Austin, where there are plenty of decent hotels (or stay as far out as Round Rock and still be at the school within 15-25 mins. depending on traffic).

I was able to get to TLC School from RR in about 15 mins. after leaving at 5:45am on day. Otherwise it was a straight 25 min. trip each day if leaving at 7am. After that, traffic gets hectic and you can look at more of a 45 min. trip in. I stayed at the Wingate in RR, due to SxSW.

If you do arrange for a seminar to be held in Austin, make sure it is not during SxSW if possible, as hotel rates double during that time and it is also hard to find lodging. See Map link of drive from RR to Austin here.

You may also want to see if any of these individuals would be interested in a CEU course such as this: http://www.meetup.com/Houston-Massage-T ... dyworkers/ (it is a "meet-up" group, but I have not found them to be too terribly active). Maybe someone there would like to know more about the potential class though.

Also, if you need to rent space in Houston, you may want to look at places like (just to name a few):

Emerson Unitarian Church - http://www.emersonhouston.org/rent-our-facilities.html
The Caroline Collective - http://carolinecollective.cc/facilities/
The Jung Center - http://www.junghouston.org/courses/default.htm
Bellaire Yoga Center - http://bellaireyoga.com/workshopsevent/

Below is a list of most of the massage schools (and colleges which have a massage program) in Houston.

It's an older list, so I expect that most of these are out of business, but it gives you a place to start. I'd suggest staying away from Phoenix School of Massage (my understanding is that they are still paper-based and I recently met *yet another* student said their trend still continues of poor orgainzation and regular changes with a "set-in-stone" course schedule. I would assume that may fall over into a bad experience with a CEU class). Additionally, I would not look at HFE school either, due to similar descriptions by students.

An additional note to my above post:

I notice that Claire Marie Miller Seminars also teach Integrative Reflexology. This may give you a few other options.

If you think you could get them to teach the:
  • Nurturing the Mother Certification - 3 days.
  • Nurturing the Mother Fertility Massage Specialist Certification - 3 days.
and piggy-back one or more courses with one, two or more of the reflexology courses below:
  • Introduction to Integrative Reflexology, A 4 Theory Approach - 8 CE's - 1 day.
  • Integrative Reflexology Certification - 24 CE's - 3 days.
  • Muscle Reflexology with Meridians 14 CE's - 2 days.
  • Lymphatic with Reflexology for Detoxification 14 CE's - 2 days.
then you'd do yourself a favor to contact the owner of Pacific Reflexology. She is the go-to person for getting reflexology continuing education courses to Houston. She also has special access to an open floor plan training space.

Maybe you could create a bridge between the two types of classes (you collecting the MT students and she collecting the Reflexology students) over a long week-end and it be a win-win for all involved, including the Claire Marie Miller Seminars company.

The piggy-back may give you the access to the training space, and more reason for the seminar people to be in Houston, if they will have potential to make more money with the seminar.
May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, leading to the most amazing view. May your rivers flow without end, meandering through valleys tinkling with bells...

Pueppi, as always, you are a wealth of information. :) Thanks! I'll call up TSM and Lauterstein-Conway tomorrow and see what they say. Great lead on Pacific Reflexology as well. I'll update here with what I find out!
