survey homework help on special populations

Post by Dain1991 » Tue Oct 29, 2013 9:12 am

i've been assigned to ask a MT who works with or specializes in the special population spectrum (ex; athletes, senior citizens, cancer patients etc.) if this is you and have a few minutes to answer some questions would be greatly appreciated.

1. what special population do you work with and are you certified in this area?

2. issues you have dealt with + or - related to the population?

3. what additional techniques do you wish you had learned before working with the special population?

4. what positions or techniques do you use?

5. how do you feel they benefit from the massage?

6. how do you benefit from working with them?

we have some members on our team who are qualified to answer this question. see below

1. what special population do you work with and are you certified in this area?

athletes. yes

2. issues you have dealt with + or - related to the population?

deeper issues due to repetitive motion that athletes go through. generally wears out the muscle or body part much faster and deeper

3. what additional techniques do you wish you had learned before working with the special population?

deep tissue is most effective in this case, as is acupressure

4. what positions or techniques do you use?

deep tissue for the most part

5. how do you feel they benefit from the massage?

there is immediate and constant feedback. in many instances athletes come in and can barely walk. they leave walking just fine. this has proven medical benefits

6. how do you benefit from working with them?

it helps understand the athletes body more and what their needs are. it also helps demonstrate the side effects caused by repetitive motion. for example, if a tennis players right tricep muscle is hurting, I can almost certainly say what the cause is and know exactly where to focus my massage
