Seeing Visions

Postby nectarmassage on Fri Jun 12, 2009 11:56 am

Greetings all, this is my first post....

I have been practicing massage for nearly 6 years now. I have a wonderful private practice and a great clientele. As my work has progressed I have been curious about the thought and opinions you all might have on "seeing".
During many massage sessions I begin to see images. Sometimes it can be as simple as colors or as complex as lanscapes.

I have a few clients that I share these visons with, but mostly I keep them to myself if do not think the client will respond well to what I see. Just recently I have been in a 90 minute session and walk away from it without realizing 2 hours have passed. I am getting lost in these visions. And more interestingly during the session I can lieterally feel the energy shifting in the room...similar to what it feels like when you go over a bump in the road and your stomach does that flip flop....only this is a deep warm flip flop....making sense to anyone?

My clients are commenting that they feel like a huge weight has been lifted. Many of them are having emotional releases without even knowing it. I am assuming this is because they are in a deep trance like state.?

After these intense sessions I am experiencing body highs, others in my building have noticed my pupils are dialiated and one even commented that I look liked I was on drugs.

If anyone out there can offer some advice as to what is hapening with me I would appreciate it.

Further more, I do regroup shortly after these sessions, but the following day I am very emotional, sometimes way happy and sometimes very sad.

Thanks for your input!

Here are two links to get you started until you get some posts. :)

  • Visions/Psychic Episodes during Massage or Reiki treatments
  • From Pain in Hands & Wrists:
medicineman wrote:It is not unusual to experience discomfort for a while when doing healing with others. I can't honestly say that I know the exact reason. It is always a good idea to silently say an affirmation before doing healing such as:

"I do not wish to accept any energy that is not my own" This prevents you from getting energy that might be unhealthy.

If you stay with the spot that gives resistance to energy from you, it will usually yield and allow the flow of good Reiki energy. It just takes a little more time.

As for visions of color etc., these are also common in working with Reiki. I seldom pursue the meanings of these visions, but instead prefer to enjoy the presence of them. You are getting into shamanism and guides. This will take you places that you must be prepared to go. Walter Lubeck and Diane Stein do some writing on these subjects. You might also try the archives of the International Center for Reiki Training.

I have gone where you are headed.

    Gods Blessings on your journey.

Loss of sense of time and place. You sound concerned about this, and I don't blame you. Daydreaming is one thing, but this sounds like a more serious problem. How do your clients feel about the session going an extra 30 minutes without prior notice? How does it impact their schedules? How does it impact your next client?

My clients are commenting that they feel like a huge weight has been lifted. Many of them are having emotional releases without even knowing it. I am assuming this is because they are in a deep trance like state.?

How do you know they are having emotional releases? Especially if they are not aware of it themselves? You seem to be assuming an awful lot.

After these intense sessions I am experiencing body highs, others in my building have noticed my pupils are dialiated and one even commented that I look liked I was on drugs.

It is possible to put yourself into a trance-like state, sometimes accompanied by acute mood swings. Nothing esoteric about it; most people are capable of learning to do the same. However, the symptoms you describe may also be indicative of physiological changes related to stress, diet, sleep cycle changes, hormonal changes, etc.

If anyone out there can offer some advice as to what is hapening with me I would appreciate it.

The mood swings towards manic or depressive may be indicative of a more serious issue. Perhaps seek out a counselor who is familiar with the type(s) of bodywork you do.

Strictly from an intuitive perspective, my sense is that you have some strong intuitive insights & abilities. If this rings true for you it's very important to consider not only doing reading on the subject, but actively seeking out a teacher (Reiki, Meditation, Mystery School or otherwise) to work with. You will want to learn about the basics of grounding & clearing your energetic field to start with - as this is the foundation level.

Also, work towards this in the meantime, by looking at your own lifestyle: do you exercise, go for walks, garden, spend time in nature? These activities would help you to be more connected & grounded to this plane of reality. Take a long hard look at your diet. If you are vegetarian, be sure to get enough protein, beans & root type vegies, and cut way back on sugars. I have often found that those who work with energy need to work in a very concrete way to be "present" in the the physical world & remain firmly grounded. You can also work with certain stones & crystals to help with this - hemetite, black tourmaline, & ruby to name a few. You may want to PM Talenyn on the use of crystals & stones for more info on them, as she works with them a great deal.
One book to check out that many folks consider their crystal "bible": Melody's Love is in the Earth, there are of course plenty of others, so have fun looking!

Good luck & let us know how you're making out. And review more of the posts in the Energy work section as you may find other info here that you can relate to.

dont worry. youre not crazy.
youre also not manic depressive, bipolar, in a trance, or suffering from hormonal changes.
i do the same thing.
i see vivid colors and shapes and visions and they are highly specific to the area i am working on.
usually they are accompanied by profound physical sensations in both me and my client.
i first noticed it years ago when receiving massage, and now i am a CNMT working on my license;
over the last two years the ability has developed to the point that i am now getting understanding from the information i see,
i am learning to decode my own visions and use that info to help my client.
YES sometimes those sessions will run over, so you do have to be careful in that regard---oh YES you might feel differently that day and maybe even the next!
YES those visions might obsess you because they ARE so profound!
but---in my experience, they all relate back to the client. thats where you are getting the information from.
so the best thing to do is, write it down, describe it, draw it if you can (thats what i do),
keep a record of these visions along with your SOAP notes on your client, and learn the language of what is being shown to you.
and by all means, find a way to TELL YOUR CLIENT, they are more receptive than youd think, otherwise they wouldnt be on a massage table to begin with.
(and never ever let anyone tell you might have a "problem"---you have a GIFT,
a weird, wonderful, special little gift, and i strongly encourage you to develop it further.)

Love your post and your experience.

Sounds perfect to me. Sounds like you are getting yourself out of the way and just letting the energy flow.

The most powerful sessions I've had (for the person on the table as well as for myself) have been the ones where I felt the least "there" on a 3-d level. That's a potent transformative state you enter, as far as I can tell.

Congrats.
