i can't come up with a business name!! please help

Postby mayi0511 on Wed Jan 28, 2009 9:44 am

Hi everyone,
i am new at this board so let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have been a therapist for around 3 years now. I started this career in Colombia( thats where im from), i did everything from facials, body treatments, waxing, weight lost treatments, etc. Now i am living in Houston, Texas. I am currently on call in 2 different spas, and i also help one of my friends that is starting out his business in chair massage. I really enjoy the corporate chair massage, and i also enjoy body treatments the most. i would like to offer my clients chair massages and also down the road a sort of treatment like no other. Maybe planning their romantic day with their love ones. Going to their house and offering couples massage....
i am expaining all of this so you can have an idea of why im having such a hard time finding a business name that will incorporate everything that i want to offer :)
thank you so much for all the replies in advance, and i really hope you guys can help me out. I am ready to start making my business cards and my website!
p.s If anyone lives in Houston, please contact me so we can share ideas :)

Once you start mixing massage with planning romantic encounters, trouble will quickly find you.

Are you licensed in Texas? Do you have a membership in a professional organization with insurance?

hi Sharon,
yes i am a licensed massage therapist here in Texas. and i do have insurance with ABMP.
I know what you mean about the romantic encounters, that's why that idea is kinda is down the road. i would have to know a way of making that work without people thinking that is something else.
But for now i want to do mobile chair and table massages...

Greetings and welcome to BWOL!

What kind of names have you thought about for your business? That could get us started.

Maybe this thread will help as well: Great Business Names

Front of Card

Vanni
Massage Therapy Indulgence

Name & Number

Back of Card

A mobile business which offers massage and spa therapies, with couples massage avaliable.

Corporate chair massage for your office should be booked at least one month in advance.

=========================================

(The reason I added the "booked one month in advance", is because it reads odd when you jut put down that you offer CCmassage --- I thought that may break it up a bit and let the clients know you aren't some sort of floozy all in one swipe. Hopefully someone else can come up with a much better idea than that!)

I'm curious why you want to incorporate you son's name into the name of your massage business.

To me, there's just all kinds of energies and messages going on with your approach to a business name, which may be part of what's adding to the difficulty of finding one that fits.

My suggestion is to focus on the service you will be providing and/or what you stand for in your work/business and consider the kind of clients you want to attract. Tailor your name to fit in with those things. In my opinion, the more fucused and uncomplicated for the potential client to interpret, the better---but does not mean there can't be any creativity. In fact, you'll want something memorable and meaningful (to the clients you are seeking to work with) that will increase the chance of a client calling you over somebody else.

Unless your son is working with you as a MT I would avoid including his name in your business name.

I agree with healingtime & the other posters:

#1) Your name should carry your energy as it represents you - rather than your son - IMHO

#2) The name can either incorporate something of your own name or some connection to the local area. So in Texas it could be anything from Lone Star Massage Therapy to Healing Hands of Houston, if you see what I'm saying - not that I'm actually suggesting those two names.

#3) Considering your experience with spa treatments, you might want to offer those as in home services - if the equipment needed would be portable enough.

You could certainly think about offering them as a special treat for women's only (not that it has to be that) nurturing beauty treatment day - held along with another practitioner or two - at one woman's home, or a hotel in a small conference area, etc. These could be geared toward a bride & her attendants, or some such, and it might also work then to bring in the guys as well -

This also leads back to your possible names:
Houston Healing Arts (as you incorporate various therapies) or something along the lines of Transformational
Body Therapies, Rejuvenations, etc.

Hope this gives you some inspiration! Good luck & let us know what you come up with.
