Yeah, they don't have prices anywhere on the website. I had to call the company and then they emailed me a price list. The business cards are pretty expensive... $250 for them to design a card OR $175 if you use one of the designs shown on the website. And printing costs atleast another hundred bucks depending on which package you get.

I really like the cards but they cost a bit more than I had planned on spending. We'll see...

What do you think about the prices- worth it or totally outrageous?

Here is a great site for business cards and post cards.  I haven't yet ordered from them but their samples are AWESOME and their prices even better!  Check them out.... http://www.overnightprints.com/

My husband uses http://www.printsmadeeasy.com and has placed orders mothly through them for at least the past 6 months.  I used vista for my first set of cards and wasn't impressed.  The printsmadeeasy.com website is very easy to use (go figure) and you can make changes to the layout.

I have asked other professionals about the picture thing.  Real estate agents have noticed a difference pre/post picture.  Also a lady running for a political office mentioned her pic got her more of a response this year.  I'm giving it a try.  Just received my cards on Monday from printsmadeeasy and they look great.  Glossy finish.

I'm voting for totally outrageous. With my business cards, I had a local print shop design them and print 500 for about $40. The only reason it was this much is because it used multiple colors and was on glossy paper. Had I chosen black and white, or on standard, non-glossy paper, 500 would have been only $18.

I really do like the designs on http://www.overnightprints.com though, and it will be a tough decision to make choosing either my local printer or overnightprints.com...

Staggnant, I am building my card right now on www.overnightprints.com I can get 1000 for 39.95. I don't think I am going to start out with that many, probably 250 which I think is 29.95. The only thing I am not liking is I can't really "put" the writing where I want it. You choose the layout and then plug in your info. But for the prices I can deal with a little less creative freedom. :)

Yes. you read it right. Do you really think I will use 1000? I live in a small community population of about 13,000. I was thinking I would probably want to change my card before I used 1000 of them. But then if I use up the 250 I have to buy more so I think I will go for the 1000. Makes sense huh?   ;)

Use them as appointment cards - you will go through them faster than you think and anyone you've seen (and has booked another appointment) will always have a card on them - you never know who they may give it too....<br><br>

1000 cards is only $20 more than the 500 that I got. I just got 500 because that's about the amount of money I had at the time. I really like local print shops because there's no shipping costs, and if something is messed up, you don't have to send it back, they just fix it before you buy it. ;)

Here's a company I just found today...

The name of the company is "CD Business Cards", but don't let that fool you.... for the conventional style cardstock cards, you can Design Online with over 10,000 designs:

Here's one other place that may be of help to some people. It has some of the same cards as Nice Touch showed just in a few different styles, in case you are looking for the exact thing in a different format.

Thanks for the above link, because I had forgotten about this company.

I also had the free cards from Vistaprint.  The last time I ordered I upgraded to the glossy with a "Introductory Offer" on the the back and added my own logo on the front.  They are wonderful and I have not seen any others quite like it yet.

I also ordered the magnets, and postcards.  So, far I have no complaints.

In fact right now through the March 31, 2005 Vista Print has everything discounted 25%.

Well, I have to say, when it comes down to it, I think the money spent with Phrizbie would be well worth it if you are into "art". They really are awesome and from what I've seen make cards people will remember and keep.

But, the reason for this post: The following company seems to be located in the UK, for those who are on the other side of the pond. They have a link to a place for the US and CAN users at the bottom of the page. They have a clickable link for you to design your own business card (and upload your own design) like VistaPrint, for anyone who is searching for that.

Vistaprint's free option is one thing, getting on their mailing list and having them send you a $2.50/250 Premium cards is another! I ordered 250 cards of my own design, no vistaprint logo, for $7 including shipping. I'll let you guys know how they turn out, they should arrive soon :)

I would highly recommend getting on their mailing list, as they send out freebie emails all the time - free stamps, free make a notepad, free upgrade!!! to premium card (no vistaprint logo). I'll let you guys know how the printing quality is, though I hear from others that it's pretty darn good especially considering the special prices :D

btw, Phrizbie designs are AWESOME!@ I'm thinking that you pay them to design the cards & print them? I dont' know if we can pick any of the precreated designs?? i love those!

Phrizbie does have some pre-created you can pick from:

http://www.phrizbie-design.com/massage_ ... cards.html

It makes sense that as a profession, to consider speaking with them and asking for more designs for therapeutic work (as they tend to stay with spa themes) and cards for male therapists.

I've already sent a few contact comments in the past, but maybe more therpaists would like to join in on this. They have a page to contact them directly at:

I order from overnightprints.com and love their cards and prices. Recently I changed my email address and so ordered 1000 new cards with the new email on it - only I got it wrong (put .com instead of .net on them). I emailed and asked if there was any way I could get a small discount on another order since I messed up that one - they refunded my money and didn't expect the cards back. I reordered with the correct email and got my money back from other order - more than I expected for sure.

Just an observation: My husb. handed someone his BC today and the first thing the someone said when he looked at it was, "Huh. Vista Print, eh?" When the first thing that is noticed about your business card — your business face — is that it comes from the free section at VP, well ... that's not so great.

On to other, more fun stuff:
Diana wrote a couple articles on using business cards.

Agreed! I used VistaPrint several times until suddenly a monthly reccurring charge began to pop up on my credit card...they had a box for "free info" I made the mistake of checking. That's just sleezy. I switched to overnightprints.com and have been EXTREMELY happy with the service and the product! They even have a telephone number to call if there's a problem that has INTELLIGENT people on the other end. Highly Recomended!

I just started using http://www.zazzle.com. I got my cards the other day and I love the way they look. I got the indestructale ones and they seem to be made of some kind of plastic, waterproof and virtually tear proof. I love the feel of the silk cards so may have to try the ones at lotusgirl's link.

I have gone with Vistaprint, natural touch marketing, and watercolors cards. While the latter two companies were way more expensive for only slightly nicer cards, right now vistaprint is working for me. I don't do the free option, and just so you know you can totally customize their cards. I uploaded my own logo, changed the colors and the fonts, had an appointment note added to the back (overlaid onto my transparent logo) and got 1000 for like $50. I only wish I had upgraded to the glossy for $10. I have ordered glossy from them before and they are just as nice as some of the pricier companies. I just ordered a bunch of brochures and some labels to match my cards and I'm really excited to see them.

For postcards and GCs I prefer natural touch marketing.

We used VistaPrint for a long time, and prior to them we used a web company called Prints Made Easy (http://www.printsmadeeasy.com). We actually both preferred the PME cards for quality, but VP won hands-down with regard to price. I tried VP's glossy cards, then decided that I preferred the matte ones because the white background turned out "tan-ish" on the glossy cards, and the whole thing just seemed quite a bit duller.

Then a printer in one of our networking groups ran a special to rival VP, and we decided to try him out. Rather than "glossy" we got the ... um, what was that called again? UV coating. The cards are MUCH, MUCH nicer than anything we ever got from VP. The only thing I wish I'd thought to do differently was to leave the back blank, or put *less* info on that side; while you can write on it (we have a special offer for newcomers, and a referral offer for regulars on there), I wish we had MORE SPACE TO WRITE, because I am always reaching for a card to jot someone a note on (common practice in the groups we go to). I'm going to remember that the next time we order cards- no matter where we get them!
